Job summary

Henderson Engineers is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer/Designer to lead complex electrical design from concept through completion within our New York operations. You will guide design teams, prepare drawings and specifications, and deliver projects that balance code compliance with practical, aesthetic solutions.

The role emphasizes mentoring, collaboration across practices, and active client communication to drive successful project outcomes in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering field (electrical, mechanical, fire protection, or architectural)
• 9+ years of relevant experience
• Professional Engineer (PE) license is strongly preferred (required for EOR's) or similar certification

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical engineering design from concept through completion for complex or large-scale projects.
• Direct or oversee the preparation of design documents, system layouts, detailed drawings, schematics, and specifications.
• Develop solutions to advanced and highly complex engineering problems, providing discipline-wide technical guidance.
• Serve as a mentor and coach across teams and practices, including supervising less experienced designers and engineers.
• Participate in or lead staffing recommendations, training initiatives, and technical strategy development.
• Provide quality oversight, including final quality reviews to ensure standards compliance.
• Communicate with clients, resolve conflicts, and provide leadership in responding to technical questions.
• Lead or support strategic business development efforts and maintain key client relationships.
