Job summary

Amazon is seeking an experienced Electrical & Controls Engineer to design, develop, and implement electrical power distribution and control systems for material handling projects. You will shape safety, scalability, and operational excellence across system design and field deployment.

The role covers power distribution, control architectures, and industrial networks (EtherCAT, Ethernet/IP, PROFINET) with IPC/PLC/SCADA integration, VFD interfaces, and safety device deployment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical or computer engineering or equivalent.
• 4+ years in electrical and controls design for industrial/material handling systems.
• Deep understanding of EtherCAT, Ethernet/IP, and PROFINET protocols.
• Strong knowledge of VFD selection, programming, and interface design.
• Proficiency with IPCs, PLC programming, and SCADA system design.
• Extensive experience with sensors, encoders, safety circuits, and safety devices.
• Thorough understanding of NEC for industrial installations.
• Experience with 3-phase and single-phase power distribution system design.
• Proven ability to conduct in-field installation audits and ensure code compliance.
• Proficiency in electrical design software (AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or equivalents).
• Excellent written and oral communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Design power and controls systems for material handling projects.
• Develop electrical layouts, schematics, control architectures, and panel standards.
• Design modular and scalable power distribution systems focused on reliability.
• Establish best practices for panel placement, grounding and safety circuits.
• Create single-line diagrams, power distribution schematics, and panel schedules.
• Collaborate with mechanical, software, and project management teams.
• Mentor junior electrical and controls engineers and support commissioning and startup.
