Job Description Summary

GE Vernova’s Power Conversion & Storage business focuses on advanced energy conversion and storage systems to support utilities and industries in their electrification needs. We emphasize power stability, energy storage, and industrial electrification solutions, helping customers address complex challenges and transition towards a sustainable, decarbonized future.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

  1. Interface as the L2 first line of support for customer breakdowns.
  2. Travel to customer sites at short notice to support interventions and failure investigations.
  3. Conduct CIR & RCA investigations.
  4. Promote a culture of safety, quality, and value.
  5. Review detailed technical specifications for control of large industry, marine, and naval power converters, ensuring they meet customer requirements.
  6. Maintain ownership of all engineering artifacts related to specific power converters, including software specifications, control specifications, drawings, testing procedures, and commissioning instructions.
  7. Engage with customers to understand and meet their requirements and expectations.
  8. Support sales by reviewing new customer requirements and identifying gaps with current power converter control capabilities.
  9. Manage software design processes for power converters on specific projects.
  10. Collaborate with other GE PC businesses to incorporate power converter technologies and software into customer solutions in North America.

Qualifications/Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
  2. At least 15 years of experience in power electronics, power conversion, or naval power systems.
  3. At least 10 years of site commissioning and intervention support experience.
  4. Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time.

Desired Characteristics

  1. Strong analytical skills.
  2. High attention to detail.
  3. Excellent organization skills.
  4. Working knowledge of the GE PC P80i programming environment.
  5. Deep domain knowledge of semiconductor devices (thyristors and transistors) and their application in large power converters, with an emphasis on control theory.
  6. Understanding of voltage source and current sourced power converter control.
  7. Master’s degree in engineering from an accredited university.
  8. Motivated, curious, and proactive engineer.
  9. Excellent communication skills, able to simplify complex concepts.
  10. Strong interpersonal skills, approachable and accessible.

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. Final offers depend on obtaining necessary U.S. Government authorization.
