Essential Responsibilities
  • Provide L2 first-line support for customer breakdowns.
  • Travel on short notice to customer sites for interventions and failure investigations.
  • Complete CIR & RCA investigations.
  • Promote a culture of safety, quality, and value.
  • Review detailed technical specifications for large industry, marine, and naval power converters to capture customer requirements.
  • Maintain ownership of all engineering artifacts related to specific power converters, including software and control specifications, drawings, test procedures, and commissioning instructions.
  • Interface with customers to ensure requirements and expectations are understood and achievable.
  • Support sales by reviewing new customer requirements and identifying gaps with current power converter control capabilities.
  • Manage software design processes for power converters in specific projects.
  • Collaborate with other GE PC units to incorporate power converter technologies and software into customer solutions in North America.
Qualifications/Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
  • Minimum of 15 years experience in power electronics, power conversion, or naval power systems.
  • Minimum of 10 years of site commissioning and intervention support.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time.
Desired Characteristics

  • Working knowledge of the GE PC P80i programming environment.
  • Deep domain knowledge of semiconductor devices (thyristors and transistors) and their application in large power converters, with a focus on control theory.
  • Understanding of voltage source and current sourced power converter control.
  • Master’s degree in engineering preferred.
  • Motivated, curious, and proactive engineer.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of simplifying complex topics.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, approachable and accessible.

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. Final offers depend on obtaining necessary U.S. government authorization.
