Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Conduct pre-donation medical screening according to established guidelines.
• Determine hematocrit and protein levels using finger sticks, a hematastat, and refractometer
• Assess donor suitability
• Set up, monitor, and disconnect plasmapheresis machines and donors
• Provide feedback to ineligible donor candidates
• Ensure donor screening information is complete and accurate before donation
• Maintain donor confidentiality
• Communicate donor medical information to Medical Staff
• Establish and maintain organized donor files
• Maintain accurate documentation and records
• Maintain a clean, organized, and efficiently supplied work area
• Dispose of contaminated disposable equipment
• Build rapport with donors and support long-term donation
• Perform administrative duties such as greeting donors, answering phones, and assisting center management
• Maintain familiarity and compliance with state and federal regulations, FDA-approved SOPs, OSHA, CLIA, cGMP, and internal procedures

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED
• Obtain required state licensures or certifications where applicable
• Typically requires 2 years of related experience
• Ability to comprehend and follow oral and written instructions
• Ability to listen to and understand spoken information
• Ability to perform precise, coordinated finger, hand and wrist movements
• Ability to handle exposure to biological fluids and potentially infectious organisms
• Ability to work with electrical office and laboratory equipment
• Ability to work in extreme cold below 32°F in a plasma freezer
• Ability to sit or stand for the entire shift, bend, and twist the neck and waist for 1–2 hours per day
• Ability to lift 15 lbs. routinely and up to 50 lbs. maximum
• Hearing acuity essential
• Color perception/discrimination and correctable near and far vision requirements
• Ability to relate sensitive information to diverse groups
