Job summary

Blue Origin in Washington state is seeking an experienced Responsible Engineer to own the TeraWave solar array deployment mechanism from concept through qualification, balancing packaging, mass and reliability.

You will drive design cycles, perform analyses, lead cross-disciplinary teams, and coordinate interfaces with SPM, PVA, and harness subsystems while mentoring junior engineers.

Relocation provided; travel up to 25%; interviews include a technical assessment.

Qualifications

• Hands-on prototyping and testing experience in mechanical hardware.
• Strong mechanical design, integration, and mechanism analysis with 3D modeling.
• Familiarity with GD&T and tolerance stack‑ups per ASME Y14.5.

Responsibilities

• Own the deployer design, analysis, and qualification for the TeraWave mechanism.
• Lead end-to-end design cycles: trades, concept, detail, testing, qualification.
• Define deployment architecture and validation strategy for space environment.
• Prototype and test to accelerate design progress in fast-moving R&D cycles.
• Coordinate interfaces with SPM, PVA, and harness subsystems.
• Mentor junior engineers and guide subsystem designers.
