Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Responsible Engineer for the TeraWave solar array deployment mechanism. You will own its architecture, analysis, and qualification, balancing mass, packaging, and reliability while coordinating with cross-discipline teams.

You will drive rapid design-build-test cycles, perform kinematic and structural analyses, and guide others through complex mechanism development to enable spaceflight capabilities.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related field is required.
• 8+ years of experience in mechanical hardware design and build.
• Hands-on prototyping and testing experience required.
• Strong skills in 3D modeling and simulation tools.
• Familiarity with GD&T per ASME Y14.5 and tolerance stackups.

Responsibilities

• Own design, development, and qualification of deployment mechanism.
• Lead design cycle: trade studies, conceptual and detailed design, testing, qualification.
• Define deployment architecture and validation strategy with prototyping and environmental tests.
• Perform rapid prototyping and hands-on work with actuators, motors, and instrumentation.
• Coordinate interfaces with SPM, PVA, and harness teams to ensure integration.
• Mentor junior engineers and guide sub-system designers.
