Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Senior Spacecraft Solar Array Engineer to own the full solar array design lifecycle from concept through flight qualification and production release at constellation scale.

You will derive requirements, lead trade studies, and coordinate across EPS, thermal, structures, harness, and manufacturing while driving DFx and test programs. This role requires strong leadership and clear communication in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on solar panel or PV assembly development, with 3+ years in space apps.
  • Experience designing, specifying, procuring, and testing space-grade solar panels.
  • Familiarity with space environment effects on solar panels: vacuum, radiation, UV, thermal cycling.
  • Experience with high-voltage spacecraft design >50V and solar array interfaces.
  • U.S. citizenship or eligible status for export-controlled data.

Responsibilities

  • Own design and development of space-grade photovoltaic assemblies from concept to flight-qualified hardware.
  • Derive solar array requirements, ICDs, and design specifications with systems engineering.
  • Lead design trades and document results for DFx, including cost and manufacturability.
  • Characterize electrical and optical performance across lighting, temperature, and space environment.
  • Lead design reviews and supplier/customer reviews; coordinate verification and qualification.
  • Maintain solar array design package and CM artifacts.
