Wolters Kluwer is seeking a Principal CX/UX Designer for the API Developer Platform to lead UX across APIs, developer portals, SDKs, and AI workflows. You will collaborate with Product, Engineering, and leadership to ensure developer-centric experiences that scale across contracts, docs, and portals.

The role emphasizes deep UX expertise and technical fluency, with hybrid work and frequent collaboration at CT/ET time zones. You will mentor teams and shape patterns that drive developer success.

Qualifications

• 10+ years leading UX or product design for complex B2B or developer platforms.
• Experience designing APIs, developer portals, SDKs, or docs.
• Strong understanding of API concepts (REST, authentication, error handling) and collaboration with engineers.
• Expert in information architecture, flows, and high-fidelity prototypes.
• Extensive user research shaping product strategy.
• Design systems experience across teams.
• Ability to influence executives and mentor designers.

Responsibilities

• Lead design vision for the API Developer Platform across APIs, portals, docs, and AI tools.
• Partner early with Product & Engineering to shape API contracts and roadmaps.
• Conduct developer research and validate designs via prototypes and usability tests.
• Design the full developer journey from discovery to first API call, debugging, and monitoring.
• Drive consistent API patterns across documentation, errors, and permissions.
• Collaborate with engineers through implementation and iterate on usage data.
• Define measures like time to first call, adoption, and developer satisfaction.
• Leverage AI tools to speed research while maintaining human accountability.
• Mentor designers and raise technical design fluency across the team.
