Job summary

University of Indianapolis is seeking a Custodian Supervisor to oversee daily custodial operations across academic buildings and dorms. The role requires leading 1st and 3rd shift teams, maintaining safety standards, and ensuring policy compliance.

The supervisor will train staff, monitor performance, and coordinate with the Manager to address challenges, assign relief coverage, and drive continuous improvements in facilities services.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years in the custodial field.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• The Supervisor will be responsible for training and overseeing of the daily custodian operations in the academic buildings and dorms.

Essential Functions

• Oversee the day-to-day operations of 1st & 3rd shift Custodians.
• Regular communication with the manager is required, including at least two (2) daily check-ins to review progress, address challenges, communicate needs or concerns, or confirm next steps for tasks or projects.
• Provide guidance, training and mentorship to employees and address employee issues.
• Inspect, evaluate and provide feedback to team members.
• Ensure all employees are adhering to company policies, industry regulations and safety guidelines.
• Participate in leadership and staff meetings to communicate objectives and share updates.
• Approve attendance and Web Time Entry.
• Assign relief custodians to fill in for absentee workers.
• Follow the guidance and direction of the Manager.
• Other duties, including special projects, as required or assigned.
