Job summary

Pinnacle Treatment Centers is seeking a Lead Counselor in Ventura, CA to guide a team of counselors, manage a caseload, and help ensure high-quality care in a fast-paced addiction treatment setting.

You will supervise documentation, participate in state and CARF readiness, and contribute to program development while maintaining compliance with DHCS standards. A CA AOD certification or active licensure is required.

Qualifications

• Possess CA-approved Alcohol and Other Drug Counselor certification or current license/licensure-eligible.
• Must meet Board requirements to practice with supervision.
• Credentialing required before counseling per DHCS rules.
• Experience in evaluation, treatment planning and counseling.
• Strong organization, time management and communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and clinical documentation systems.

Responsibilities

• Complete patient databases, treatment plans, progress notes, discharge summaries and other required documentation per standards.
• Orient patients to program objectives, phase system, rules and rights.
• Assess patients and place according to treatment phases and policies.
• Update clinical documentation per policies and procedures.
• Counsel patients in crisis situations and assist with coping strategies.
• Arrange referrals to community resources as appropriate.
• Participate in case conferences and team reviews.
• Lead weekly counseling team meetings and supervise staff as directed.
• Oversee quality and compliance, conduct mock inspections and ensure standards.
