Job summary

The State of South Carolina Department of Corrections is seeking a supervisor for inmate food service operations, responsible for hiring, training, scheduling, and quality control in accordance with the SCDC menu and safety standards.

The role includes coordinating security, health inspections, and vendor relations while ensuring timely preparation and delivery of meals and maintaining required records and training compliance.

Qualifications

• Must be ServSafe certified or attain certification within six months.
• Experience in quantity and quality cooking.
• Prior supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interviews, hires, evaluates and terminates inmate food service employees.
• Trains and instructs cooks, bakers, kitchen and dining staff in all duties.
• Supervises personnel in daily duties.
• Maintains cafeteria internal security with inmate representatives.
• Coordinates with inmate committee to resolve problems and complaints.
• Prepares accurate weekly food orders and deliveries.
• Maintains cook’s worksheet per SCDC master menu; records 5 years.
• Meets health, fire and OSHA inspections.
• Ensures preventive maintenance on cafeteria equipment.
