Job summary

Pearson in Austin, TX seeks an experienced lead editor to ensure high-quality editorial content for educational assessments. You will apply strong copyediting skills across spelling, grammar, and usage, while aligning with client style guidelines and Pearson standards.

You will collaborate across departments, mentor staff, and leverage AI tools to enhance content while maintaining accessibility and accuracy. A related degree and substantial editorial/assessment experience are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent certification/on-the-job training.
• Minimum of three years’ editorial experience and two years’ experience in educational assessment.
• Strong copyediting proficiency across spelling, grammar, punctuation, and usage.
• Confident in applying major style guides (Chicago Manual of Style, Gregg, Garner’s).

Responsibilities

• Implements grammar, spelling, usage, punctuation, syntax, and style per standards.
• Ensures uniformity across assessment components and identifies errors.
• Applies client style guidelines and may modify them as needed.
• Leads editorial scope awareness and mentors colleagues where appropriate.
• Seeks opportunities to strengthen editorial expertise and stay current with best practices.
