Job summary

Canteen in Durham, NC is hiring immediately for a full-time Cook Supervisor. You will directly supervise food-service associates, train staff, assign work, and ensure adherence to policies, procedures and applicable laws.

Responsibilities include managing purchasing requirements to minimize waste, using approved recipes, maintaining food safety (HACCP), and ensuring safe operation of equipment. Prior experience in batch cooking and customer service is required. Pay range $18.00–$20.00 per hour.

Qualifications

• Direct supervision of food-service staff including training, assigning work, evaluating performance, and addressing issues.

Responsibilities

• Trains employees; plans, assigns and directs work; appraises performance; rewards and disciplines associates; addresses complaints and resolves problems.
• Advises management of purchasing requirements with a focus on minimizing waste and avoiding product shortages.
• Uses approved recipes and production standards to ensure proper quality, serving temperatures and standard portion control.
• Operates and cleans equipment following department procedures after each use.
• Stores, labels and dates food items; maintains rotation to minimize spoilage and waste.
• Follows HACCP guidelines to ensure quality and safety of food supply.
• Operates equipment safely according to policies.
• Helps serve meals and gathers customer feedback.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
