Job summary

The GEO Group, Inc. is seeking a Cook to prepare a wide range of meals for the facility’s population, following the facility menu plan and ensuring high standards of quality. The role requires the ability to scale recipes, train staff, and maintain records in a fast-paced correctional environment.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma, food service training, and at least 1 year of relevant experience, with strong attention to sanitation and safety practices.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Relevant food service training preferred.
• Minimum 1 year prior experience in food preparation in commercial, military, or institutional setting.
• Must be able to communicate minimum production/service requirements to all personnel.

Responsibilities

• The Cook prepares large quantities of food including meats, fish, poultry, gravies, cereals, soups, vegetables and other foods.
• Uses various cooking methods and adheres to proper preparation methods.
• Maintains production records and ensures recipes are extended to population requirements.
• Directs and trains detainee food service staff and conducts orientation sessions.
• Places orders for food and supplies, checks deliveries, and inventories items.
• Ensures sanitation and safety program is actively followed throughout the department.
• Supports management in maintaining client relations and performs other duties as assigned.
