Job summary

The GEO Group is seeking a dedicated kitchen cook for a full-time role at our Long Beach facility. You will prepare a wide range of foods, from meats to soups, following approved recipes and the facility menu plan.

Under supervision, you will train detainee staff, manage production records, place orders, and ensure sanitation, safety, and quality. The position emphasizes teamwork, accuracy, and adherence to procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in commercial or restaurant food preparation.
• Prior cooking and correctional food service training preferred.
• Minimum one year of experience in food preparation (military or institutional setting preferred).

Responsibilities

• Cooks food as directed in the facility's menu plan and maintains production records.
• Directs work, trains, and inspects detainee food service staff.
• Conducts orientation and training for staff.
• Manages preparation scheduling and quality assurance of foods and supplies.
• Places orders for food and supplies; checks deliveries and inventories.
• Ensures sanitation and safety program is followed in all areas.
