Job summary

Gilbane Building is seeking a Superintendent to independently supervise a broad team of trade contractors on a Minnesota project valued between $90,000 and $125,000 plus benefits, with daily on-site presence and a focus on delivering quality work aligned with the approved schedule.

You will coordinate field changes, manage safety programs, and maintain project documentation while mentoring junior staff and collaborating with owners and partners to ensure successful outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management.
• 4-8 years of experience on $15-$30 million or larger commercial/industrial construction projects in a superintendent role.
• Structural steel or healthcare background highly desired.
• OSHA 30-hour certified.
• STS-C Certification.
• First Aid, CPR, AED, Stop the Bleed Training.
• Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Directs the day-to-day coordination of Gilbane’s trade partners and their sub-contractors to ensure high-quality work that meets the approved project schedule
• Develops, documents, and communicates the work plan regarding changes made in the field
• M awaits a thorough understanding of contract documents in order to proactively anticipate potential problems
• Participates in constructability review and identifies change impacts
• Obtains or verifies that subcontractors obtain all necessary permits for construction purposes
• Acts as primary safety representative in the field
• Establishes credibility among owners, trade contractors, unions, and other project partners by maintaining a fair and trustworthy environment
• Leads contractor meetings on a regular basis
• Maintains daily reports and documentation using software tools
• Creates, manages, and updates the project schedule, creating and implementing contingency plans when necessary
• Communicates schedule status, updates and changes to project team and trade contractors
• Plans, coordinates, and manages jobsite logistics
• Oversees project quality plan, completes inspections, and implements necessary changes
• Communicates with Site Services/Next 150 to order materials and schedule crew
• Coaches and mentors less Field Engineers on project needs, construction knowledge, and business acumen
• Understands scopes of work; assists in writing scopes of work and participates in buyout
• Assists in Time and Materials (T&M) tracking
• Leads stretch and flex, daily huddle, and pre-task plan reviews
• Supports a positive and inclusive work environment
• May be required to assist with tasks typically assigned to more junior positions
