Job summary

NYC Department of Housing Preservation and Development seeks a Deputy Director of Lead Compliance to manage the Lead Unit within the Office of Asset & Property Management. The role ensures City-owned buildings meet Federal, State, and local lead safety requirements, including Local Laws, EPA, and HUD rules, with oversight of inspections, remediation, and regulatory reporting.

Qualifications

Experience managing and inspecting construction projects.
Experience supervising technical/inspection staff.
Strong knowledge of NYC Local Law 1/Local Law 31, EPA requirements, HUD Lead Safe Housing Rule and related regulations.
Ability to develop procedures, workflows, and staff training.

Responsibilities

Provide day-to-day management of the Lead Unit.
Supervise a team of eight Lead Inspectors and provide technical direction.
Review inspection reports, remediation documentation, and scopes of work.
Monitor compliance with lead-related laws, regulations, and reporting requirements.
Oversee lead inspections, remediation activities, and follow-up inspections.
Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and internal teams to ensure timely compliance.
Develop QA standards, procedures, and training for staff.
Track regulatory deadlines including CU6 through July 2027.
