Job summary

NYC Department of Housing Preservation & Development is seeking a Deputy Director to supervise a team of Project Managers overseeing the monitoring of lotteries and tenant/homebuyer approvals for affordable rental and homeownership units.

In this role you will ensure timely processing, maintain records, and coordinate with multiple HPD departments, project owners, and external partners. A strong background in housing development and program compliance is essential.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a baccalaureate degree and three years of full-time professional experience in real estate development, appraisal, financing, negotiation, or related housing programs; or
  • Or a four-year high school diploma and seven years of related experience; or
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience; graduate study may substitute for up to one year of experience.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise a team of Project Managers to ensure timely processing of rentals/sales and re-rentals/re-sales according to HPD guidelines.
  • Provide regular status reports from marketing through lease-up or sale and monitor mini lotteries for re-rentals/re-sales.
  • Ensure programmatic compliance by evaluating income eligibility of applicants and auditing marketing agents’ application records.
  • Oversee marketing of projects by reviewing plans, conducting conferences with project owners and managers, and coordinating with Project Managers to monitor lease-up timelines.
  • Monitor NYC Housing Connect and application lotteries for advertised projects.
  • Maintain and update project records and respond to inquiries from applicants and public officials.
