Job summary

BlueScope is seeking a Machine Operator 3 in Alabama to fabricate material using highly automated equipment, read blueprints, and ensure quality through inspections. The role involves setup, program downloads, material reporting, and ongoing continuous improvement.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent and at least 1 year of experience with computer-controlled machinery, with preferred technical certification. Strong safety mindset required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required with ACT WorkKeys assessment level.
• Minimum 1 year operating computer-controlled machines (robotic/automatic/semi-automatic).
• Ability to read blueprints and interpret diagrams.
• Strong safety and quality focus; participate in 5-S and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Observe operation to monitor quality and adjust as needed.
• Set up and operate machines with proper tooling for current job.
• Download or generate programs directing machine operation.
• Maintain material reporting and optimize material usage.
• Perform First Piece Inspections and other quality checks.
• Participate in continuous improvement and corrective actions.
• Use lifting devices and perform housekeeping and 5-S duties.
