Job summary

BlueScope-Buildings-North-America, Inc. is seeking a Machine Operator 1 in Alabama to set up and run production equipment with basic complexity.

You will read blueprints, adjust settings, and ensure on-time completion of components per specifications while upholding safety standards. Responsibilities include operating machines to shape materials, performing quality inspections, and assisting continuous improvement efforts.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required or ACT WorkKeys at certified profile.
• 1 year manufacturing experience preferred.
• Basic computer skills and mechanical aptitude required.
• Ability to read blueprints and interpret drawings.
• Familiarity with measuring tools and quality checks.

Responsibilities

• Set up machines and confirm specifications from drawings or tablet.
• Operate machines to cut, punch, bend, weld or shape materials.
• Read and interpret blueprints and diagrams to position and secure machinery.
• Perform first piece inspection and in-process quality checks.
• Maintain housekeeping and adhere to safety and 5S practices.
• Support continuous improvement and corrective action activities.
