Job summary

CBRE is seeking a Lead Building Engineer in California who will monitor complex building systems including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and life-safety. You will lead maintenance activities, manage work orders, and oversee contractors to ensure safety, efficiency, and compliance with client standards.

The role requires 5–8 years of related experience, universal CFC certification, and strong MS Office skills; physical work and supervisory duties are included.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with 5–8 years of job-related experience; combination of experience and education acceptable.
• Universal CFC certification required; additional HVAC/electrical/mechanical certifications encouraged.
• Meet physical requirements including lifting up to 50 lbs and navigating stairs or ladders.
• Strong aptitude for problem solving, math, and working with MS Office tools.

Responsibilities

• Assign work orders and estimate time and materials for repairs; maintain inventory.
• Perform maintenance and repairs to mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and life-safety systems.
• Ensure compliance with codes, regulations, and safety directives.
• Develop energy management programs to optimize system efficiency.
• Oversee outside contractors and respond to client inquiries.
• Lead preventive maintenance programs to meet equipment life expectations.
• Review building systems inspections to ensure design specs and environmental targets.
• Communicate complex ideas clearly and coach others across functions.
