Job summary

DSHS Rainier School Habilitation Center in Buckley, WA seeks an experienced Boiler Operator (Stationary Engineer 2) to manage a high‑pressure steam plant and perform skilled boiler operations under supervision of Stationary Engineer 3.

You will monitor gauges and safety equipment, troubleshoot boiler/HVAC systems, interpret schematics, and operate control systems to ensure safe, compliant operations. On‑site work with potential after‑hours support.

Qualifications

• Three years of experience in operation, maintenance, and/or repair of stationary or high‑pressure boilers and heating systems.
• Advanced Stationary Engineer course plus two years of related experience or one year of State service as Stationary Engineer 1.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain a high‑pressure steam plant with two boilers.
• Inspect gauges, valves, pumps, and safety equipment to ensure continuous operation.
• Troubleshoot and repair boiler and HVAC systems.
• Interpret schematics and operating manuals to support upgrades.
• Operate Cleaver‑Brooks HAwk systems and related controls.
• Perform water treatment and blow‑down procedures for safe operations.
