Job summary

VALLEY MEDICAL CENTER seeks an OPERATING ENGINEER I - Boiler Operator to operate and maintain boiler and utility systems at the VMC Main Campus in Renton, WA.

The position requires experience in steam plant operations, a valid steam license, and the ability to obtain Grade 3 license within 180 days of hire. Nights shift, full-time, 40 hours per week.

Work includes teamwork with Plant Management, adherence to safety procedures, and keeping essential building systems running reliably.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Washington State driver's license.
• Five years of experience in Steam Plant Operations or Maintenance.
• Grade 4 Steam License. Grade 3 steam license preferred.
• Must be able to obtain Grade 3 steam license within 180 days of hire.
• Be able to work in a team setting and work effectively with other shop personnel.
• Be detail oriented and solve technical and mechanical problems quickly.
• Have a comprehensive knowledge in Building Automation Systems (BAS).
• Experience operating complex utility systems including HVAC systems, Domestic Water systems, Steam system, Electrical systems, and electronic systems.
• Have a valid Steam License and must meet training and experience requirements.

Responsibilities

• Performs the full range of work involved in installation, maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, modification and checks of boiler and related systems.
• Operates all boiler systems at Valley Medical Center.
• Perform periodic equipment inspections and follow maintenance schedules.
• Troubleshoot, maintain and repair machinery, mechanical devices, system controllers and related equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical circuits and related power equipment, per guidelines.
• Maintain medical center buildings to VMC standards and assist during drills and emergencies.
