Job summary

Canacre seeks an experienced Biologist to lead environmental surveys and advise project teams from pre-construction through completion. You will act as a technical lead, supporting NEPA-regulated projects and utilities work, while promoting safety, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement.

This role requires a post-secondary degree in Biology or Environmental Science and at least 10 years of field experience. Strong communication and MS Office skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree in Biology, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • Formal leadership training preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years professional experience as a biologist.
  • Experience conducting environmental surveys.
  • Experience on projects regulated under NEPA or state-equivalent is a plus.
  • Experience related to utilities construction is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication; report writing, permitting, client communications.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; detail-oriented.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities with minimal supervision.
  • Builds strong relationships with stakeholders; MS Office proficiency.
  • Valid Driver’s License and insurability.

Responsibilities

  • Lead multi-disciplinary field surveys and provide guidance to project teams.
  • Act as a technical lead to the project team.
  • Foster a safe, healthy, and accountable work culture.
  • Lead wildlife and vegetation surveys for regulatory input.
  • Advise on wildlife considerations and field regulations.
  • Develop mitigation strategies for sensitive areas.
  • Lead field kickoff meetings and review field reports for accuracy.
  • Perform other duties as required.
