Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a skilled CAD/Intelligent Modeling Drafter in the Chicago area. The role leads teams to create complex construction drawings via intelligent modeling and CADD, ensuring alignment with design intent and project standards.

You will coordinate with the design team and vendors to produce accurate drawings. The position requires 6 years of relevant experience and a high school diploma with CADD training; travel may be required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent with vocational technical training in basic CADD drafting technology and intelligent modeling.
• 6 years of relevant experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
• Travel frequency depends on duties and workload.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

• Lead teams to prepare basic to highly complex construction drawings using intelligent modeling and/or CADD.
• Utilize advanced CADD drafting/design techniques per firm standards.
• Coordinate with vendors and use catalogs/manuals for intelligent models and drawings.
• Act as Intelligent Modeling Coordinator to ensure design team coordination and QC standards.
• Review junior staff documents for consistency and adherence to standards.
• Support project engineers with design tasks, data verification, and transmittals.
• Perform other duties and assist field assignments as needed.
