Job summary

Hy-Vee seeks a Bakery Baker to prepare and bake products in a fast-paced bakery. You will oversee production, ensure freshness, and lead bakery clerks to meet daily targets. A focus on customer service and teamwork is essential as you contribute to a friendly store experience.

You will work in a high-volume environment, maintaining quality and safety standards while supporting store operations and helping customers find what they need.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; department training is helpful.
• 6 months to 1 year of similar or related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver outstanding customer service by greeting every customer and assisting with needs.
• Set up daily production timeline and prioritize special and future orders.
• Prepare, bake, fry, and pull products from freezer or cooler; supervise bakery clerks.
• Check product freshness and dates; plan for current and upcoming days.
• Inspect incoming products for quality and quantity; identify mispicks.
• Write department schedule and ensure coverage in the Bakery Manager’s absence.
• Maintain sanitation and safety; follow Hy-Vee guidelines; keep area clean.
• Answer phones and take product orders; follow dress code and department rules.
