Job summary

Hy-Vee is seeking a Baker in the Bakery department to bake and replenish display items while ensuring a courteous, friendly customer experience. You will manage production timelines, help maintain product freshness, and support store operations under supervision.

The role requires basic math, strong problem-solving, and the ability to guide team members in a fast-paced environment. Physical work includes lifting up to 50 pounds and standing for extended periods.

Qualifications

• Must have the ability to solve practical problems; variety of variables with limited standardization; interpret instructions.
• Ability to do arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.
• Must be able to copy data from one record to another, interview to obtain basic information, guide people and provide basic direction.

Responsibilities

• Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all customer interactions and treating customers as the most important people in the store.
• Smiles and greets customers in a friendly manner, whether in the department or elsewhere in the store.
• Assists customers by escorting them to products, securing items, loading/unloading heavy items, and noting customer requests to improve the shopping experience.
• Answers the telephone promptly and provides friendly, helpful service to customers who call including taking product orders.
• Prepares make up, bakes, and fries all department products as needed.
