Job summary

Hy-Vee is seeking a friendly and skilled Baker for our bakery department. You will prepare, bake, fry, and assemble a variety of bakery items, ensuring freshness and quality for daily customer orders.

You will lead bakery clerks, manage schedules, and maintain safe, clean work areas in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities include greeting customers, checking daily orders, and supporting the Bakery Manager with inventory and production planning.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required or experience in a similar role.
• Six months up to one year of related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers with a smile and assist with store needs throughout the store.
• Plan daily production schedule and prioritize special or future orders.
• Prepare, bake, fry, and assemble bakery products with attention to freshness.
• Check product freshness, pull by stale date, and anticipate near-term needs.
• Inspect incoming products for quality and quantity and flag mispicks.
• Invoice and store products as directed by the Bakery Manager.
