Hy-Vee is hiring a Bakery Assistant Department Manager to partner with the Bakery Department Manager in daily production and team leadership. You’ll train staff, assign tasks, and ensure the display is stocked with fresh product while meeting quality and safety standards.

In this fast-paced role you will manage production timelines, rotate stock for freshness, and maintain customer service excellence. The position emphasizes teamwork, proper sanitation, and adherence to company guidelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1–3 years of bakery/retail experience preferred.
• Strong leadership and communication skills with a customer-focused approach.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily bakery production and scheduling with the Department Manager.
• Lead and develop the bakery team, training new employees.
• Ensure product freshness, proper rotation, and display standards throughout the day.
• Manage staffing assignments, assignments, and closing duties for the evening crew.
• Maintain sanitation, safety, and department guidelines while delivering excellent service.
