Job summary

Hy-Vee in Lawrence, KS is seeking an enthusiastic Baker to prepare and bake products for daily customer orders. You will lead bakery clerks, manage production timelines, and ensure quality and freshness across all items.

This hourly role requires strong customer service, basic math for portioning, and attention to sanitation. You’ll rotate stock, maintain schedules, and support the Bakery Manager to meet daily deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent experience; department training is helpful.
• Over six months up to one year of similar or related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver outstanding customer service by greeting customers with a smile and assisting them with their needs throughout the store.
• Prepare, bake, and fry all department products; manage production timeline and schedule, prioritizing special orders as needed.
• Lead bakery clerks and provide direction to ensure department standards are met.
• Inspect product freshness and rotate stock; anticipate needs for current and upcoming days.
• Order supplies and merchandise items for the department as directed by the Bakery Manager; maintain sanitation and safety practices.
• Write the department schedule and ensure coverage in the Bakery Manager's absence; respond to phone orders and assist customers.
