Job summary

Actalent in the United States is seeking a Robotics Engineer to lead a new R&D project designing and programming an autonomous industrial vehicle using ROS. You will own the full development lifecycle from system design and navigation mapping to testing, commissioning, and client support in a hands-on, collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Experience with ROS in developing robotic systems.
• Proficient in C++ and Python for robotics.
• Knowledge of sensors, actuators, and control systems.
• Experience with machine vision and automation.
• Ability to read blueprints and infrastructure drawings.
• Experience with embedded software for robotics.
• Willingness to travel for commissioning work.

Responsibilities

• Lead a multidisciplinary team on a new robotics R&D project.
• Design, program, and develop an autonomous vehicle using ROS.
• Develop navigation algorithms for self-navigation in industrial environments.
• Map routes from blueprints to navigation paths.
• Implement robotics control software in C++ and Python.
• Test, diagnose, and troubleshoot system malfunctions for reliability.
• Improve system performance via software and hardware optimizations.
• Commission the vehicle at client sites and provide on-site support.
• Provide training and documentation to clients after commissioning.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and software teams to integrate components.
• Apply machine vision and automation techniques where appropriate.
• Review mechanical designs using AutoCAD/SolidWorks.
• Work with embedded software and PLC interfaces as needed.
• Communicate with stakeholders, including bilingual Spanish when required.
