Job summary

United States Postal Service in Virginia is seeking a Lead Automotive Technician to supervise lower level technicians and perform the most complex repairs on postal fleet vehicles. The role requires diagnosing a range of vehicle systems, providing technical guidance, and maintaining detailed maintenance records.

The position is based at the Virginia District with evening hours and a starting annual salary of $74,422.

Qualifications

Ability to diagnose operating difficulties on a variety of vehicles using test equipment.
Proficiency with automotive diagnostic equipment, scanners, and wiring schematics.
Experience performing complex repairs and maintaining vehicle records.

Responsibilities

Diagnose operating difficulties and perform checks on engines, emissions, electrical and electronic systems.
Perform computerized and electronic diagnostic tests using specialized equipment; interpret codes.
Conduct road tests before/after maintenance and annotate vehicle problems on work orders.
Troubleshoot malfunctioning vehicles arising from road calls and identify faulty parts.
Schedule and assign work for technicians; manage maintenance time estimates.
Provide guidance and instruction to mechanics on complex repairs and CAD equipment use.
