Job summary

United States Postal Service in Virginia District seeks a Lead Automotive Technician to supervise lower level technicians and perform the most complex repairs on postal fleet vehicles. You will provide guidance, maintain records, and ensure safety compliance in a vehicle maintenance facility.

Qualifications

  • Observe, test, analyze, and isolate trouble in automotive systems using appropriate test equipment.
  • Knowledge of electrical/electronic diagnostic equipment and how to interpret data.
  • Perform repairs and maintenance on vehicle systems including emissions, fuel delivery, and braking.
  • Maintain accurate records and complete repair paperwork.
  • Collaborate with team to diagnose and fix vehicle issues safely.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose operating difficulties on a variety of vehicles and perform checks on major systems.
  • Perform computerized and electronic diagnostic tests using specialized equipment.
  • Conduct road tests before and after maintenance and repairs; annotate vehicle problems on work orders.
  • Troubleshoot malfunctioning vehicles and identify faulty parts.
  • Maintain vehicle maintenance records and update repair time estimates.
  • Provide guidance to mechanics on difficult repairs and use of diagnostic equipment.
