Job summary

Pep Boys Clayton is seeking a skilled Technician to diagnose drivability and electrical systems and to lead a team for enhanced customer care. You will interact with customers and educate them on problems and proposed solutions for their vehicle.

This role requires 3+ years of experience, ASE certifications, and a strong customer-focused attitude. A valid driver's license and background check are required, with opportunities to advance and mentor others in a fast-paced shop.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 3+ years of strong automotive mechanical diagnosis, problem-solving and repair experience.
• 4+ ASE certifications preferred (A4 Steering and Suspension & A5 Brakes, plus 2 from: A1 Engine Repair, A6 Electrical, A7 HVAC, A8 Engine Performance, L1 Advanced Engine Performance).
• Section 609 certification required.
• State Inspection license if applicable.
• High level of motivation, energy and a customer-focused attitude.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Successful completion of pre-employment background check.
• Availability to work days, nights, holidays, and weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair to specifications across brake, hydraulic, exhaust, ignition, electrical, suspension, A/C, and computer systems.
• Perform duties of all lower technician levels as needed.
• Explain diagnoses and needed repairs to customers and staff clearly.
• Continuously learn new automotive techniques in formal training sessions.
• Assist fellow technicians and keep management informed of repair problems.
