Job summary

Speechify, the leader in text-to-speech on Android, seeks a Team Lead for the Android Core Product in Oakland, CA. This is a hands‑on leadership role: write code, review PRs, own features end to end, and mentor engineers while delivering reliable, user‑driven mobile experiences.

You should have 5+ years of software engineering, strong Kotlin and Android expertise, and a proven ability to ship features that the team actually uses.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, including time leading a team or owning a major surface while staying hands-on
• Rock solid Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests

Responsibilities

• Own major features end to end, from decision through release
• Own, maintain, and improve reliability metrics for key features
• Review pull requests and provide constructive feedback
• Unblock the team and ensure time goes to critical decisions
• Ensure shared components remain maintainable and consolidated
• Drive process improvements and automation for faster releases
• Plan work with Product, Design, and Engineering
• Handle critical issues and own feature releases
• Mentor early-career engineers and foster learning
