Responsibilities

  • Assist teacher with implementing IEPs.
  • Understand and implement a BIP.
  • Provide instructional support in content areas, as directed by the teacher
  • Participate in recreational activities (athletic, arts, trips, cultural activities)
  • Implement written assignments as needed
  • Document and report all records/files as needed
  • Support in record keeping as directed by the teacher
  • Implement classroom/social behavior management and coach students
  • Review and evaluate staff performance for proper treatment plan implementation
  • Assist other personnel to support their work activities
  • Collaborate with school personnel on behavior support strategies
  • Active supervision to keep the environment safe, functional and clean
  • Supervise students during breaks and lunch
  • Assist students with eating, bathroom use and moving between classes
  • Maintain awareness of students' whereabouts for safety
  • Coordinate transportation transitions as needed
  • Report daily attendance to Supervisor
  • Maintain Student Support Kits and monthly logs
  • Complete other responsibilities as assigned

Job Title: Lead Aide I- Apple Valley
Pay Range: $24.00- $26.00
Job Description:

The purpose of the position is to work closely with district teachers and behavioral aides to support them in their duties while providing behavioral support to students.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
  • Academic & Behavioral Support Assists the teacher with implementing the students' Individual Education Plans (IEP)
  • Able to understand and implement a BIP
  • Provides instructional support in content areas, as directed by the teacher
  • Participate in, and/or facilitate recreational activities of various sorts (i.e. athletic, arts, and crafts, off-campus trips, cultural awareness, etc.)
  • Implement provided written assignments, as needed
  • Document and report all legal, education, and service records/files as needed
  • Supports in record keeping, as directed by the teacher
  • Implements the classroom or social behavior management system, including coaching students so that they can quickly return to school tasks
  • Skill Competencies Review and evaluate the performance of all staff members to ensure the proper implementation of treatment/behavioral plans daily
  • Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities
  • Collaborate with school personnel with behavior support strategies
  • Active Supervision Helps maintain the physical school environment to keep it functional, safe, and clean
  • Supervises students during class breaks and during lunch
  • Assists students with eating, using the bathroom and moving from one classroom to another
  • Maintains consistent awareness of client's whereabouts to ensure safety, including directing clients to appropriate groups or areas in the community or school
  • Including but not limited to, transportation transitions
  • Reports daily attendance of students and staff to Supervisor
  • Assists in maintaining Student Support Kits, and ensuring staff complete both monthly service and break logs
  • Complete other responsibilities as assigned

MINIMUM SKILLS OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • High School Diploma, equivalent or two-year degree or equivalent combinations of training and experience
  • Experience working in a school or treatment setting for students with learning or social/emotional problems as a Behavioral Aide
  • DOJ/FBI Live Scan Background & TB Clearance
  • Pro-Act, CPI and/or CPR certification helpful
  • Working knowledge of standard business practices and procedures
  • Computer-literate; knowledge of standard company software applications, internet
  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Problem-solving ability and proven accuracy with detailed information
  • Proficient written and verbal English language communication skills, including business writing and professional telephone manner
  • Reliability, dependability and flexibility
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Occasional exposure to dust, pollen and fumes
  • Requires frequent reaching, handling, sitting, standing, walking, hearing, talking, stooping, bending, crouching, kneeling, running, carrying and lifting 50 or more lbs.
  • Must be able to see and hear within normal range with or without correction.
  • The noise intensity level is moderate to high
