Job summary

The candidate should have over 5 years of experience in backend development, a strong background in Java, Python or Go, and active use of AI-assisted tools to improve workflow efficiency.

This position is integral to Pendo's transition into a fully AI-native function, emphasizing daily shipping and ownership of outcomes.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building and shipping production-grade back end and data systems in distributed environments.
• Active use of AI-assisted development tooling as a workflow multiplier.
• Hands-on AI/ML integration in production workflows.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and own scalable AI-integrated data systems.
• Decompose complex work into mergeable increments and ship them daily.
• Evaluate and experiment with AI tools to enhance engineering workflows.

Skills

Back end expertise in Java (Spring Boot), Python, and/or Go

AI-assisted development tooling (Copilot, Cursor)

Production-grade systems in distributed environments (AWS/GCP)

Data modeling and query optimization

Automated testing and CI/CD
