Job summary

Target’s Advanced AI team builds end-to-end AI/ML systems that may be powered by LLMs, classical ML, or deep learning models. You will design, build, deploy, and maintain AI/ML applications that support automation, insight, and action across core business workflows.

You will collaborate with Data Scientists, engineers, product partners and security teams to translate complex problems into scalable technical solutions, providing hands-on leadership and ensuring robust engineering practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in quantitative disciplines or equivalent industry experience.
• 5+ years of hands-on software engineering experience building/operating production systems.
• Strong experience developing AI/ML apps including LLM-powered or agentic systems.
• Proficiency with Python and frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Experience with model APIs, prompt orchestration, retrieval-augmented generation, observability, and cloud ML platforms.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, deploy, and maintain AI/ML applications for business workflows.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership for AI engineering initiatives.
• Contribute to architecture decisions, evaluate models/frameworks, write production-quality code.
• Ensure security, reliability, and maintainability of AI systems across platforms.
• Mentor engineers and elevate engineering practices within the team.
