Job summary

Bain & Company’s AIS team is seeking a Lead AI Engineer to design, build, and ship generative AI systems for enterprise clients. You’ll work across the full development lifecycle with Bain consultants, data scientists, and product managers, contributing to multi‑agent pipelines and production deployments.

You will mentor junior teammates, collaborate with ethics and infrastructure teams, and help shape how AI capabilities are applied at scale in client environments.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years in software/ML engineering with hands-on building responsibilities.
• Experience shipping generative AI features end-to-end, from prototyping through production.
• Clear communication skills to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Collaborate across engineering, product, and data science; mentoring is a plus.
• Strong prompt engineering & context engineering skills.
• Familiar with evaluation design and data labeling for LLM applications.
• Experience with RAG architectures and agentic patterns (tool use, memory).
• Knowledge of ReAct, RLAIF, and HITL feedback loops.
• Design & deployment considerations: cost, latency, and safety.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the design, development, and deployment of end‑to‑end generative AI systems.
• Build and iterate multi‑component AI pipelines (RAG, embeddings, hybrid retrieval).
• Implement reasoning, tool calls, and orchestration across AI workflows.
• Develop agentic systems with memory management and tool integration.
• Contribute across the full stack, from model experiments to production deployment.
• Build APIs, microservices, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud‑native deployments.
• Support GenAIOps processes: testing, evaluation, latency monitoring, improvement.
• Balance performance, safety, and cost in system design; align with Responsible AI.
