Job summary

Bain & Company’s AIS team is seeking an Expert Senior Manager / Associate Partner AI Engineer in Boston to architect, build, and scale next-generation generative AI systems for client work. You’ll lead cross‑functional teams across engineering, product, data science, and ethics, driving production deployments from research to scale.

You will own end-to-end lifecycle, partner with Bain’s ecosystem, and mentor engineers while navigating responsible AI governance.

Qualifications

• 8–12+ years in software/ML/AI with hands-on building responsibilities.
• Demonstrated leadership of complex generative AI programs from conception to production.
• Strong executive communication to business stakeholders.
• Experience leading engineering teams and mentoring talent.
• Minimum three days per week in-person collaboration at Bain.
• Travel as required by client projects.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and scale end-to-end generative AI systems and agentic solutions.
• Architect multi-component pipelines including RAG, fine-tuning, embedding generation, and hybrid retrieval.
• Integrate reasoning, tool use, function calling, and orchestration across workflows.
• Lead research, experimentation, and production deployment of AI solutions.
• Oversee API development, microservices, CI/CD, and cloud-native deployment.
• Build automated evaluation suites for performance, safety, and cost.
• Mentor teams on best practices in RAG, agents, prompt engineering, and AI safety.
