Job summary

Bain & Company is seeking an Expert Senior Manager / Associate Partner AI Engineer to architect, build, and scale next‑generation generative AI systems for clients. You will lead cross‑functional teams across engineering, product, data science, ethics, and client stakeholders to move solutions from prototype to production adoption.

You will guide research, design experiments, deploy production systems, and shape AI strategy while mentoring engineers and collaborating with Bain’s ecosystem

Qualifications

• 8–12+ years in software/ML/AI with hands-on building responsibilities.
• Experience leading complex generative AI programs from concept to production.
• Strong executive communication with business stakeholders.
• Proven leadership of engineering teams and cross-functional collaboration.
• Advanced prompt engineering, context engineering and conversation design.
• Experience with evaluation design, experimentation frameworks and data labeling for LLM apps.
• Familiarity with RAG, agents, and HITL approaches; cost optimization for LLM workloads.
• Experience in client-facing consulting or enterprise transformation is a plus.
• Minimum three days per week in-person collaboration; travel as required.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy end-to-end generative AI systems and multi-agent workflows.
• Architect pipelines including RAG, fine-tuning, embedding optimization, and hybrid retrieval.
• Integrate reasoning, tool use, function calling, and orchestration across workflows.
• Engineer agentic systems with scalable tool ecosystems and memory architecture.
• Lead research, experimentation, evaluation design, and production deployment.
• Oversee API development, microservices, CI/CD, observability, and cloud deployments.
• Build GenAIOps processes for automated testing, latency monitoring, and continual improvement.
• Balance performance, safety, costs, and Responsible AI principles; implement guardrails and HITL.
• Develop automated evaluation suites using user signals and continual learning.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, data science, ethics, and infrastructure teams.
• Advise executives on AI strategy, architecture decisions, and implementation roadmaps.
• Mentor technical teams on RAG, agents, and prompt engineering.
