Job summary

Veeva Systems is seeking a Principal DevOps Engineer to lead the build of a new AI-driven platform for life sciences, shaping safety, regulatory, and clinical development. You will join as a founding member and participate in multi-hat leadership across engineering to drive AI-enabled productivity and innovation.

As the team grows, you will guide architectural decisions, establish CI/CD pipelines, and help scale cloud infrastructure while delivering reliability and performance for live customers

Qualifications

• 5+ years in DevOps roles focusing on tooling, automation, and distributed systems.
• Proven mentor with track record developing team capabilities.
• Extensive AWS application design and programming experience.
• Hands-on with IaC and configuration tools (Ansible, Terraform).
• Deep expertise with containerization and orchestrators (Kubernetes, OpenShift).
• Proficient in Python and statically typed languages (Java/Scala/Go).
• Experience setting up CI pipelines (Jenkins, CircleCI, Codefresh).
• Familiar with monitoring/observability frameworks to track health and performance.
• Strong technical writing and presentation skills, including proposals and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-depth software engineering expertise in cloud architecture, design patterns, and programming.
• Implement core DevOps practices, including IaC, CI, and automated deployments.
• Build and manage robust CI/CD workflows to automate full lifecycle tasks.
• Provision, manage, and scale infrastructure using Ansible, Terraform, and Kubernetes.
• Drive architectural design, integration solutions, and engineering best practices.
• Proactively improve system reliability, availability, performance, and durability.
