Job summary

Seattle YMCA is hiring for a full-time on-site BASE program instructor in the Seattle area. You will guide elementary-age participants through sports, arts, STEM and hands-on activities at the Y’s BASE program, promoting teamwork, social-emotional learning and skill-building in a safe environment.

You’ll support the program supervisor, participate in Play Everyday Program sessions, and help maintain a positive, inclusive youth development setting starting 8/17.

Qualifications

• 2+ years’ experience with children (camps, child care, tutoring, nannying)
• CPR/First aid certification is required
• Completion of minimum STARS training is preferred

Responsibilities

• Plans and implements culturally relevant activities within the provided curriculum
• Supervises a group of children to ensure health and safety
• Guides staff/volunteers overseeing activities
• Communicates with parents/guardians
• Follows YMCA policies including safety and abuse prevention
• Maintains site appearance and cleanliness
• May prepare and serve snacks
• Checks in/out with families
• Assists in operating the program when staff is not present
• Provides on-site support for school-based Play Everyday Program
• Attends staff meetings and trainings
• Other duties as assigned
