Job summary

Seattle YMCA is seeking full-time, onsite Lead Instructors for BASE programs starting 8/17. You will guide elementary students through sports, arts, STEM, and hands-on learning, promoting teamwork and social-emotional growth.

Some days include supporting a school-day Play Everyday Program and coordinating with the onsite supervisor. The role emphasizes creating a safe, engaging environment, encouraging skill-building and fun.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years of age.
• 2+ years experience with children in camps, child care, tutoring, or nannying.
• Able to model Y values: caring, respect, responsibility, honesty.
• Experience planning and leading group activities.
• Completed 12 college credits or GED/high school diploma.
• STARS training completed.
• CPR/First Aid certification.
• Food Worker Card.
• Pre-employment TB test and MMR vaccination; background check required.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities within the Y curriculum.
• Supervise children to ensure health and safety; provide positive experiences.
• May guide staff/volunteers overseeing groups of children.
• Communicate with parents/guardians professionally.
• Follow YMCA policies including safety and abuse prevention.
• Maintain site appearance and cleanliness; assist with snacks.
• Check-in/out with parents; support Play Everyday Program.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings; perform other duties.
