Job summary

Seattle YMCA is hiring for a Lead Instructor to guide elementary-age participants through sports, arts, STEM and other hands-on activities in a BASE program. This full-time onsite role supports the program supervisor and promotes teamwork, social-emotional learning, skill-building and fun.

Some days involve supporting the Play Everyday Program at school; BASE leads start 8/17. Location includes multiple elementary sites in the Westgate area.

Qualifications

• 2+ years’ experience with children (camps, child care, tutoring, or nannying).
• Ability to model YMCA values: caring, respect, responsibility and honesty.
• Completion of minimum STARS training is required.

Responsibilities

• Plans and implements developmentally appropriate activities within the Y curriculum.
• Supervises a group of children to ensure health and safety.
• May provide guidance to staff/volunteers.
• Communicates with parents/guardians.
• Assists at check-in/check-out for parents.
• Provides onsite support for school-based Play Everyday Program.
