Job summary

The Administrative Nurse III (Nurse Manager) Critical Care Outreach at University of Illinois Hospital & Health Sciences System (UI Health) is responsible for overseeing Critical Care Outreach Team operations in the Chicago area. The role requires a BSN, IL RN license, and 3–5 years of ICU leadership experience, with certification in critical care preferred or to be attained within six months.

The schedule includes flexible shifts with rotating weekends.

Qualifications

• BSN required; Master's degree preferred.
• Illinois RN license; out-of-state and compact licenses not accepted.
• 3–5 years of ICU nursing with progressive leadership experience.
• National certification in critical care; or attained within six months of hire.
• BLS and ACLS current; PALS within six months; BLS/ACLS instructor or equivalent within six months.
• Effective communication to lead, educate, and collaborate during emergent situations.
• Must establish psychological safety across diverse clinical settings.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Critical Care Outreach Team operations across the organization.
• Lead during emergency activations and provide nursing mentorship and education.
• Coordinate safe, high-quality care for patients at risk of deterioration.
• Promote early recognition, triage, and interprofessional collaboration.
• Maintain rapid, clear communication and respond to electronic and written messages.
