Job summary

CGS Federal (Contact Government Services) seeks a Law Clerk to support a large federal agency's legal mission. You will perform complex legal research, draft documents, and assist in all phases of litigation, including cite checking with Westlaw and Lexis, under supervision.

The role emphasizes detail, speed, and collaboration within the Legal Department. JD or law-student status is required, with strong research tools experience and familiarity with Relativity preferred.

Qualifications

• JD degree or current ABA-law student, 1+ year of study.
• Strong knowledge of federal and state court systems and research.
• Experience with Lexis and Westlaw.
• Extensive cite checking and Bluebook proficiency.
• Familiar with document review and file management systems.
• Ability to work under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Performs complex legal research for trial staff.
• Assist in preparing draft motions, briefs, and memoranda of law.
• Cite check using online legal research tools.
• Review ROI-related research and new cases.
• Edit and review final decisions and write legal opinions.
• Support attorneys through all phases of litigation.
• Respond to citizen letters.
• Review AMICUS briefs.
• Brief attorneys on legal issues and facts.
