Job summary

NiSource is seeking a Summer Engineering Generation Intern for a 12-week program starting May 2027. Roles are based in Wheatfield, IN or Michigan City, IN, with residency within 50 miles.

Interns will work on Power Generation, engineering support, and project administration while gaining practical experience in a utility environment. Qualifications

• Current student pursuing a four-year degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, Education or Technology.
• Must have completed at least one year of undergraduate study.
• Ability to work 40 hrs/week onsite during the summer.
• Proficiency with PC applications and strong skills with MS Excel & Access.

Responsibilities

• Opportunities are available in Power Generation, Engineering support, and procedure overview.
• Manages the application of permits, preparation and execution of job orders, procurement of materials, processing of material invoices, tracking of materials, and preparation and submittal of close-out packets.
• Maintains and monitors project files for accuracy and completeness.
• Supports the planning, estimating, scheduling, risk analysis, and agreements for land, engineering services, pipeline interconnects and reimbursements.
• Assists with the preparation of bid packets and contractor selection, additional project management of extraordinary gas transmission and distribution facilities and high profile projects requiring specialized project management support and oversight.
• Manages projects in accordance with all applicable codes and standards, ensuring safe reliable service to customers in an efficient, economical manner. Collaborate and strategize with peers within NiSource companies and in industry to ensure cost effective project management.
