Job summary

NiSource invites applicants to a 12-week Summer Engineering Generation Internship designed to launch careers in the utility sector. Based in Wheatfield, IN or Michigan City, IN, with a 50-mile eligibility radius, you will work with engineers and project teams to gain hands-on experience in permits, planning, and project management.

You will build professional relationships across NiSource and gain insight into regulatory compliance, materials management, and cost-effective project execution.

Qualifications

• Current student pursuing a four-year degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, Education or Technology.
• Completed at least one year of undergraduate study.
• Ability to work 40 hrs/week onsite during the summer.
• Proficiency with PC applications; MS Excel & Access preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• GPA 3.0 or above.
• Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Assist with permits, job orders, materials procurement, and close-out packets.
• Maintain and monitor project files for accuracy.
• Support planning, estimating, scheduling, risk analysis, and land agreements.
• Assist with bid packets, contractor selection, and project management for gas facilities.
• Ensure projects comply with codes and standards and coordinate with NiSource teams.
• Support training and content development for NERC/CIP compliance.
• Assist maintenance and improvement of systems used by Compliance and Training teams.
